ARTA Plans Green Summit July 22-23 to Help Industry Meet the Green Challenge

Got Green? Some might argue that Green is a trengrn worldd, but legislative and consumer indicators show that the focus on sustainability is here to stay. Indeed, to remain competitive in the future, businesses will need to incorporate sustainable practices into operations and be able to verify those efforts.

This "Green Era" offers a unique opportunity for the textile services industry. We've been providing and supporting a green product -- reusable textiles -- for more than a century! The immediate challenge lies in quantifying the green value of reusable textiles and of our operations, and then marketing those benefits to our customers.

Green Summit Agenda
ARTA will hold its Green Summit in historic Quebec City, July 22-23, at Le Chateau Frontenac Hotel. The meeting will begin fall bdwith an overview of new life cycle assessment research (a foundation to make our case), how-to information and tools to help you market the benefits of reusables, as well as information on how to enhance and measure the sustainability of your current operations.

The Green Summit is open to members and non-members alike, but space is limited, so register early to ensure a place. Back by popular demand, the Summit will feature supplier exhibits and sponsorship opportunities.

Who Should Attend?
Owners, operators, marketing and salespersons, managers, sustainability or environmental services managers.Note: Consider bringing your spouse or family with you! ARTA has secured a small block of rooms through the weekend at the $229 rate.

Why Quebec City?
With the ARTA/CRTA merger last year, about 20 percent of our fall bdmembers are located in Canada. Equally important is the fact that Quebec City is one of the most historically significant cities in the world. Perched on the banks of the St. Lawrence, 150 miles east of Montreal, Quebec City is the only fortified city north of Mexico and celebrated its 400th anniversary in 2008. The historic city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985.The city provides an affordable venue for networking and education, and an awesome opportunity for a personal or family vacation (ARTA has secured the $229 room rate through the weekend following the summit, July 24-25).

Call for Green Summit Presentations!

Does your company have a Green story to share?  ARTA plans to hold break-out sessions on July 23. Whether you are a supplier or operator, consider submitting an outline for a presentation at the Green Summit by Feb. 26. One breakout session will be a roundtable session on how companies are marketing themselves as Green. So if your company has a green initiative you are willing to share, give Nancy Jenkins a call at 913/432-6177.

Presentations should provide how-to information and be generic in focus (no sales pitches!). For more information, contact Nancy Jenkins.

TRSA to Hold Healthcare and Tech/Plant Summit in Las Vegas, Sept. 28-30
las vegasTRSA is planning a combination Healthcare and Tech/Plant Summit at Caeser's Palace in Las Vegas, Sept. 28-30. ARTA will assist in providing speakers for the healthcare portion of the Summit on Sept. 28-29. The Summit will focus on technology and plant issues Sept. 29-30.

ARTA members can attend the Summit at TRSA member prices. Attendees must register separately for each segment of the  Summit (Healthcare and Tech/Plant).

"Members told us they don't have the time or resources to attend a large number of meetings held by TRSA and other groups," says TRSA President Roger Cocivera. "We heard you and decided to combine the Healthcare and Tech/Plant meetings in 2010. This will be the Super Bowl of industry gatherings."

The three-day Summit will feature education sessions, plant tours and a trade fair/reception. Sessions will cover healthcare reform, disaster recovery plans, CMS Guidelines and new LCA data on reusables versus disposables.

Registration fees for the event will be published soon. For more information, contact TRSA's  Bill Mann at bmann@trsa.com.
