Pressing Matters
Looking Back, Looking Forward
By Steve Tinker, ARTA President
As 2009 comes to an end and we look forward to 2010, it’s a good time to evaluate our successes and make plans for 2010.
ARTA has been serving our membership for more than 27 years. We were formed originally as an industry coalition to positively affect regulations that would undermine sales of reusable textiles. After a successful effort, ARTA’s mission was expanded to create greater awareness and appreciation for reusable textiles.
Our strategy to achieve that goal is focused on developing a strong ARTA membership and providing a support network for members. We are unique in the industry in that our charter welcomes all industry participants: manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, operators (profit and not-for-profit), as well as allied associations. We are committed to position reusables as the first choice among consumers and to maintain a framework on which to plan for a prosperous future.
The Plan for 2010
In 2010, we are concentrating our resources in the following areas:
ARTA Website
Our website is the top website that Google lists (out of 2,400,000 hits) when you search for “reusable textiles.” With this instant recognition, we have a unique opportunity to deliver our message to the public. ARTA is committed to becoming the recognized “go-to” source for information concerning the advantages of reusable textiles, from marketing pieces to references to recent scientific papers or articles that promote the reusable message. In 2010 we will increase these efforts.
ARTA’s Education, Sales Tools and Meetings
ARTA exhibited at Clean ’09 in New Orleans and we are planning to do the same at Clean 2011 in Las Vegas. At Clean ’09, we debuted a suite of marketing materials to help members sell the green benefits of reusable textiles. These materials are available for purchase as printed color copies or as a print-quality PDF via the website at www.arta1.com.
